In a lot of ways music videos have evolved into short films that explain and give context to a song. This transforms each song and creates a separate world where that song suddenly has more meaning. Musical artists create whole worlds around their songs, character, themes, entire narratives for single songs. Some of them have minutes of set up where the song is no longer playing and instead there is a scene that plays out before your eyes. This can happen before, after or even during the song to help viewers to understand the meaning or story behind the song better.

This form of music video type has become quite popular, however, there are artists that take this idea one step further. Some create entire series with multiple music videos that transition from, one video the artist or band has created, to another. They could be songs that are from different albums that the artist has written, they may sound similar or they may be vastly different from each other, yet they end up sharing a commonality just because the artist has created them that way.

Songs are short and often it is difficult to get an entire story across which is why some artist break this by creating a pause in a song. Without that it is, again, difficult to achieve the kind that has happiness, tragedy, adversity and intrigue that you would find in a one to two-hour film in a two to three-minute song. This concept creates a series of events set to music and strung together in a way that makes it seem as if each music video is merely a scene of a larger narrative.

This is something that is not found very often and mostly only spotted if it is blatantly stated or if you are a giant fan of the artists. Still, I find this concept extremely interesting and would like to do my content curation on, not only these types of song series, but also how the overview changes the entire storyline when combined together.

So for my content curation I will be taking four or five artists which have videos that connect to each other through their music videos and review each separately then see if anything about the overall story arc will change when it is combined with their connecting videos.
